Looking after your car can help avoid larger costs later down the line

Maintenance is often a big cost for car owners. You not only have to fork out the money to buy the car initially, tax it and insure it but also keep on top of maintenance and ensure that it gets through an MOT. The cost of a MOT is often only about £35 but you can end up having to pay hundreds in repairs to enable the tester to pass it. MOT’s are also becoming stricter so you can expect to have to do more repairs than you may of five years ago.
If you maintain the vehicle well then you are less likely to run in to as many issues as problems can be picked up when they start rather than waiting until they have caused further damage that could possibly have been prevented.
New cars are inevitably going to need less maintenance but you should still have regular services done and ensure that anything that goes wrong, even if it is covered under a warranty is rectified as soon as possible.
Ignoring odd noises from your car or failing to notice that your car appears to be driving different is asking for trouble. Sometimes you need to learn to trust your own instincts, if something doesn’t feel right with your car then take it in to the garage to get it checked out.
