Have you noticed uneven tyre wear on your vehicle?

Tyres are a vital part of your car and are one of the main contributors to the safety of your vehicle. It is important that you check your tyres regularly to check they are not under or over inflated, worn, damaged or fitted incorrect, all of which can have a serious impact on the handling and it is essential that they are fitted and maintained correctly.

Uneven tyre wear can happen for a number of reasons and it should be investigated as soon as possible. Often it is caused when the tracking or alignment is out on the car. This can be because of a small bump, such as clipping the curb or even can happen gradually over time. This can be easily checked by any tyre fitting garage and adjusted if needed to usually for around thirty to forty pounds plus VAT.

Tyres can also wear unevenly if they have the incorrect pressure in them. If a tyre is under inflated then more of the surface of it will be on the road meaning that it will wear quicker. If you are unsure of the tyre pressures that are suitable for your vehicle, refer to the handbook that came with the car or if you do not have this check with your local car garage.
